Prep Time: 30 Minutes

Cook Time: 8 Minutes

Servings: Approximately 1½ quarts

  • 10 Medium-size apples
  • 1 Orange
  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks OR 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • A Pinch ground nutmeg
  • Sugar 3 Tablespoons (add more to suit your taste!)

  1. Peel orange and wash, peel (optional) and slice apples into quarters.
  2. Place everything in a Slow Cooker.
  3. Add water until the fruit is mostly submerged.
  4. Cook for 6-7 hours on low heat, or 3 hours on high.
  5. Use a large spoon to mash up the cooked fruit, which should be soft at this point.
  6. Let the liquid mash simmer for 1 hour.
  7. Carefully strain the cider with a fine mesh sieve.
  8. Serve warm with a Cinnamon Stick garnish

  • Use a variety of apples if possible. Cooking a combination of sweet and tart fruits will create a deep and robust flavor.
  • Don’t forget the orange! It adds further depth to the flavor profile, blending nicely with the spices.
  • Looking for something with a little more kick? Chill for an hour before serving, pour over ice with a shot of Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey! Garnish with a Cinnamon Stick and a slice of fresh apple and enjoy responsibly.
